I am a professionally trained psychotherapist with over 20 years experience working in the field of mental health. This includes several years of working as a social worker and therapist in a variety of settings in child, adolescent and adult mental health services in both the statutory and voluntary sector. I have substantial experience in working with couples and families. I am qualified to work in both brief focused and open-ended work, depending on the particular needs of the individual/s.
I also provide consultancy and have led a variety of groups and trainings to schools, voluntary agencies and other statutory bodies. In addition to my private practice I work as an NHS psychotherapist in a hospital out-patients department.
I completed my professional training as a psychodynamic counsellor and then as a psychotherapist at WPF therapy, one of the most widely respected training bodies in the UK.
I hold the WPF qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy together with the Postgraduate Diploma in Pscyhodynamic Counselling. Additionally I hold the Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Studies from the University of Roehampton. These trainings are over six years in duration and require a substantial amount of both clinical experience and personal individual, analytic psychotherapy.
I am a full member of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling(FPC). The Foundation holds a strict code of ethics and complaints procedure, maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professional practice.
I am also registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP-CPJA) and I am a professional member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). These two organisations are the largest professional bodies of counsellors and psychotherapists in the UK and ensure that their members are appropriately trained and qualified.
In addition to the above I hold a
Postgraduate Certificate in Systemic (family) therapy from
The Tavistock Clinic, London.
I received my Social Work qualification (dipSW) and was awarded a first class, BSc Hons. degree from London Metropolitan University (formally UNL).
