I am a professionally trained and qualified social worker counsellor and psychotherapist with over 25 years experience working in the field of mental health. This includes several years of working as a social worker and therapist in a variety of settings in child, adolescent and adult mental health services in both the statutory and voluntary sector. I have substantial experience in working with adults, couples families and groups. I am qualified to work in both time-limited and open-ended work, depending on the particular needs of the individual/s.
I also provide consultancy and have led a variety of groups and training's to schools, voluntary agencies and other statutory bodies . In addition to my private practice I work in the NHS as a Principal Psychotherapist in a central London hospital (Tier 2) out-patients specialist psychotherapy service. My role involves leading the honorary psychotherapy program together with the provision of supervision for staff-members and honorary psychotherapists;I also carry-out assessments and on-going treatment with Adults, couples and families as well as running analytic groups. Additionally I am a visiting clinician at The Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships (Tccr) where I work as a trainer and see couples for psychotherapy. I also work as a tutor on their Master in couples psychodynamic counselling and psychotherapy.
I undertook my professional training as a psychodynamic counsellor and then as a psychotherapist at WPF therapy, one of the most widely respected training bodies in the UK.
I hold the WPF qualification in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy together with the Advanced, Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy. Additionally I hold the Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Studies from the University of Roehampton.
I completed a further psychotherapy training in couples psychoanalytic psychotherapy at The Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships (Tccr) where I also undertook a Masters qualification from the University of East London.
These trainings altogether are over 10 years in duration and require a substantial amount of both clinical experience and personal individual, analytic psychotherapy before qualification.
I am a full member of both Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC) and British Society of Couple Psychotherapists and counsellors (BSCPC). These professional membership bodies hold a strict code of ethics and complaints procedure, maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professional practice.
I am also registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) within the College of Psychoanalysts and Jungian Analysts, and I am a professional member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). These four membership organisations are highly regarded psychotherapy bodies and ensure that their members are appropriately trained, qualified and monitored. Respectively I consult with a weekly supervisor and partake in on-going CPD (continuing professional development) activities.
In addition to the above I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Systemic (family) therapy from The Tavistock Clinic, London.
I hold a Social Work qualification (dipSW) and was awarded a first class, BSc Hons. degree in Social Science
